The Moxa EDS-G512E 12-Port Managed Ethernet / PoE Switch is built out with an interface that includes twelve Gigabit Ethernet ports, with up to 4 for fiber-optic connections. Eight ports are 10/100/1000BaseT(X) and are PoE and PoE+ compliant, and four are 100/1000BaseSFP slots. SFP modules sold separately (see Accessories tab). This versatility allows the user to upgrade existing networks to Gigabit speeds, and create connections with high-bandwidth PoE devices. Gigabit transmission increases overall bandwidth for improved performance, and enables fast transfers of large amounts of triple-play services across a network.

EDS-G512E network redundancy technology layers Turbo Ring, Turbo Chain, and STP/MSTP/RSTP protocols. Management functions include IGMP snooping, IEEE 802.1Q VLAN, port-based VLAN, QoS, RMON, bandwidth management, port mirroring, and warning by email or relay. Network security standards of the EDS-G512E are based upon IEC 62443, and include protocols such as RADIUS, TACACS+, MAB authentication, SNMPv3, IEEE 802.1X, MAC ACL, HTTPS, SSH, and sticky MAC address.

The EDS-G512E Series is well suited for communication demanding applications, such as video and process monitoring, ITS, and DCS systems, all of which can benefit from the scalable backbone construction this unit makes possible. The metal housing has an IP30 rating, with a -10 to 60°C, or -40 to 75°C operating temperature range. Certifications include ATEX, Railway, NEMA TS2, and DNV.
