The Moxa IKS-6728A-8PoE-4GTXSFP-HV-HV-T Ethernet / PoE Switch is a managed interface that integrates eight 10/100BaseT(X) ports that are PoE and PoE+ compliant, and four combo Gigabit/Ethernet ports (10/100/1000BaseT(X) or 100/1000BaseSFP+). Each unit includes two slots for interface modules with 6 to 8 Ethernet/PoE ports (10/100BaseT(X), 100BaseFX, 100Base PoE/PoE+, 100BaseSFP). Interface modules sold separately.

This model is classified as a power source equipment (PSE), able to be used to centralize power supplies, with up to 30W per PoE port, and up to 36W for industrial heavy duty devices such as weather-proof IP surveillance cameras with wipers/heaters, high-performing wireless access points and IP phones. The IKS-6728A-8PoE-4GTXSFP-HV-HV-T supports two types of power input sources: 48VDC for PoE+ ports and system power, and 110/220VAC for system power (48VDC sold power supply sold separately).

Network redundancy technology for this unit integrates Turbo Ring, Turbo Chain, and STP/MSTP/RSTP protocols. Management functions include IGMP snooping, IEEE 802.1Q VLAN, port-based VLAN, QoS, RMON, bandwidth management, port mirroring, and warning by email or relay. Smart PoE functions include diagnosis, scheduling, event warning, and PD failure check. Network security standards integrate TACACS+, SNMPv3, IEEE 802.1X, HTTPS, and SSH protocols.

3kV surge protection is inbuilt for harsh outdoor environments to increase the reliability of PoE systems. The housing has an IP30 rating, with a -40 to 75°C operating temperature range. Each unit meets CE, FCC, DNV and EN 50121-4 standards.
