Description
The Moxa NPort 5100 Series Serial Device Server is designed for quick network enablement of serial devices. The compact size makes this series of servers ideal for integrating with devices such as card readers and payment terminals to an IP-based Ethernet LAN. The NPort 5100 Series can be used to provide PC-based software direct access to serial devices from anywhere in a network.
In applications where termination resistors are required to prevent reflection of serial signals, the NPort 5100 Series comes with jumpers for adjusting termination and pull high/low resistor values for each serial port. These models can be can be configured for TCP Server, TCP Client, UDP Server/Client, Pair Connection, or Ethernet Modem mode, ensuring compatibility with software based on a standard network API. Real COM/TTY Drivers are provided for compatibility with existing software, with full support of Microsoft and Linux operating systems.
The NPort 5100 Series support SNMP, which can be used to monitor all units over Ethernet. Each unit can be configured to send trap messages automatically to the SNMP manager when user-defined errors are encountered, or an alert email can be sent out using Moxa's Windows utility or the web console during cold/warm starts, as well as a change in password.
All units are encased in compact metal housing with a standard operating temperature of 0 to 55°C (-40 to 75°C for -T), and meet CE, FCC, and cULus standards.
