The Moxa TCF-90-M-ST RS-232 to Fiber Converter is equipped to transmit RS-232 signals over optical fiber. This unit expands networking capability by extending signal transmission up to 5km, with power derived from either the serial port or an external power source. A pair of these converters can connect two RS-232 devices via optical fiber in full-duplex mode, thereby isolating the transmitted data from spiking ground potentials, ground loops, electrical noise, electromagnetic and RF radiation. Each unit features IP30 rated plastic housing, and a 0 to 60°C operating temperature range.
