Description
The SICK UM30 Series Ultrasonic Distance Sensor offers reliable, accurate contact-free detection up to 8000mm, by utilizing acoustic pulses which reflect off an object, also known as time-of-flight measuring. Ultrasonic technology permits distance measurement across various solid, powdered, and liquid materials, without limitations due to color, transparency, or ambient light. The ObSB mode enables detection of any object between the sensor and a taught-in background. Teach-in adjustment is easy and quick via cable. Select variants also come equipped with an IO-Link interface, for increased adjustment versatility and remote monitoring. Certain configurations within the UM30 Series also offer digital, as well as current / voltage outputs. All units come standard with a durable, compact M18 metal enclosure with an IP65 and IP67 rating. An operating temperature range of –25 to 70°C allows the UM30 sensors to withstand extreme and harsh environments.
Applications
• Level regulation for liquids and bulk materials
• Detection, measurement and positioning of dark, shiny, and transparent materials
• Diameter check for metal, paper, and plastic coils
• Continuous detection of fabrics and wire grids
• Collision avoidance
• Outdoor applications
