Description

The SICK L4000 Series is a complete safety system for monitoring doors on machinery and providing access or area protection. It is available in sending or receiving models with a radial or axial optical axis, and with 7 to 84m maximum scanning range options. The L4000 system offers a fast response time of 30ms or less, which reduces safety distances and saves space. It is also well suited for extreme ambient conditions, such as moisture or temperatures between -20 to 55°C.

The system consists of a UE401 safety evaluation device and photoelectric safety switches. The UE401 safety evaluation device acts as a link between the photoelectric switches and the machine controller. This allows the connection of up to 4 sensor pairs (sender/receiver combination) or up to 8 cascading sensor pairs.

Applications

  • Access or area protection on machining centers and robot cells
  • Monitoring of doors and service openings on machines
  • Optical safety edges for protecting automated guided vehicles
