Description

The SICK MAX Series Linear Encoder is designed for position measurements in mobile hydraulic applications in hydraulic cylinders and controls hydraulic components of self-driving mobile machines. It utilizes magnetostriction technology to provide reliable, wear and maintenance-free absolute position detection. The MAX series has 50 to 2,500mm measuring range options that can be set in 1mm increments and a typical resolution of 0.1mm. It is available with analog, CANopen, SAE J1939, and PWM interfaces. These interfaces provide diagnostic functions that can be used to examine the operating cycles of hydraulic cylinders.

These units can be configured with different sizes to offer installation options that suit numerous applications. The MAX30N has 30mm housing that supports installation in small hydraulic cylinders. The MX48N has radial cable entry for space-saving electrical connection. The MAX48A has an axial cable entry and rugged stainless-steel housing.

The housing of the MAX series is pressure-resistant. It also protects the encoder in the hydraulic cylinder from influences such as fluid temperatures, vibrations, electrical and magnetic fields, and hydraulic oil.
